If two records are similar, you can place one in a Duplicate
state. A record can be a duplicate of only one record, but it can
have more than one duplicate. For example, Record A can be a duplicate
of Record B, and Record C can be a duplicate of Record B.
About this task
To mark a record as a duplicate:
Procedure
- While viewing the record, click on the record form toolbar.
- In the Duplicate Record dialog box, enter
the duplicate record ID or a unique key in the Search Key field
and click Search. Alternatively, click Browse to
select and run a query to find the duplicate record. Then click OK.
The record is placed in the Duplicate state and appears in
edit mode. The duplicate record appears as a link in the Duplicate
Of field on the Resolution tab. Click the
link to open the duplicate record in a separate browser window.
- Enter data in any required fields. Labels
associated with mandatory fields and the tabs on which they appear
are indicated by red text.
- Click Save.
