Updating the license file

When you receive a new license file from IBM®, the new license file contains all previous license features and new license features. Replace your existing license file with your new license.

Updating the license file on Windows

Procedure

To update your license file on Windows:

  1. On the IBM Rational License Key Server, locate the current license file.
  2. Replace the current license file with the new license file supplied by IBM Rational.
  3. To enable the new license feature, you must reread your license file:
    1. Run lmtools.exe by clicking on the Start > Program files > All Programs > IBM Rational > IBM Rational License Server > LMTOOLS.
    2. Click Start/Stop/Reread.
    3. Click Stop Server then click Start Server to restart the license server. Do not use ReRead License File.

Updating the license file on UNIX

Procedure

To update your license file on UNIX:

  1. On the IBM Rational License Key Server, locate the current license file.
  2. To reread the license file, restart the license server using the following commands:
    • lmutil lmdown -c <license_file_path>
    • lmgrd -c <license_file_path> -l <license_log_path> -local
    Note: Do not use lmutil lmreread to restart the server.
