Exporting a result set

You can export the contents of a result set for offline access or to import into another application.

About this task

When you export a query result set that contains record field values with embedded spaces, these fields in the result-set grid contain the ri4w5 128 bytes of text followed by an ellipsis (...) to indicate that the text is truncated. To retain all the field data, use a report or the Rational® ClearQuest® Export Tool instead.

To export a query result set as a text file:

Procedure

Run a query and view the results on the Result Set page of the Query window.
Click File > Export Grid.
In the File Name field of the Export Grid window, enter a file name.
Click Browse to select a folder in which to save the file.
In the Export Query window, navigate to the desired folder location and click Save. The Export Query window closes. The File Name field in the Export Grid window is updated with the path specification you selected.
From the Column Delimiter list, select a delimiter.
Delimiters allow you to use different characters or tabs to separate columns. Alternatively, you can make each column a new line.
From the File Encoding field, select the code page value to be used in exporting the data. You can choose from any of the 13 supported code pages.
If you want to export only the selected rows in the result set, click Selected Rows.
Click OK.
