Installing with Installation Manager from a shared network drive

This scenario outlines how to install both a DevOps product and IBM Installation Manager from a shared network drive. Users enter configuration information during the installation.

Procedure

  1. Download the DevOps product from IBM® Passport Advantage®. Download the IBM Installation Manager and Packaging Utility; see technote 609575.
  2. Extract the installation files for the DevOps product to a shared network drive. Verify that the directories containing the installation files are shared directories.
  3. Check user requirements before installing. DevOps products require administrator access.
  4. Mount a directory or map a shared drive from the shared network drive to the local computer.
  5. Install the DevOps product and Installation Manager.
    1. On the local computer, open a command prompt.
    2. Go to the disk1 directory, which is located on the shared network drive.
    3. Start the installation by running the install command: For Windows, type install.exe. For Linux and UNIX systems, type install.
  6. Go through the Installation wizard and enter configuration information during the installation.

Results

The DevOps product and IBM Installation Manager are installed. You can also set up Installation Manager updates automatically.
