Installation Manager updates

You can set Installation Manager to automatically search for updates.

When Installation Manager is installed, you can configure it to automatically check for later Installation Manager versions. If your product requires a later version, you must update Installation Manager. However, if your product works with a version that is earlier than the one on your computer, Installation Manager remains at the current version. This is because Installation Manager is backward compatible.

You can set whether Installation Manager automatically checks for updates to itself. To set this preference, open Installation Manager, click File > Preferences > Updates, and select Search for Installation Manager updates. When the preference is selected and the DevOps product requires a later version of Installation Manager, you are prompted to update Installation Manager.

Service repositories, which contain product updates and fixes, are located at ibm.com. Each DevOps product includes links to service repositories that are specific to that product. You cannot see or modify these links, but you can set whether the service repositories are searched. To do so, open Installation Manager, click File > Preferences > Repositories, and select Search service repositories during installation and updates.

If a computer does not have access to ibm.com or you do not want the computer to access ibm.com, clear Search service repositories during installation and updates. This prevents Installation Manager from retrying a connection multiple times and then timing out when the connection is not made.

If you set the service repositories to be searched automatically and updates are available, you do not see the updates from the service repositories listed in the repository table. To view the repository table, click File > Preferences > Repositories. When you click Install, Update, or Modify, any updates found by Installation Manager are displayed.
