National language character data support

Rational® ClearQuest® store character data in database sets as defined by the Rational ClearQuest data code page. This support is independent of both the localized version of Rational ClearQuest that is being used to access the data, and the local character set of the operating system platform that is running any Rational ClearQuest application.

Each Rational ClearQuest data code page conforms to the definitions for the corresponding Microsoft code pages. For a list of the supported data code pages, see Supported data code pages.

Some Rational ClearQuest data code pages exclude some characters in the corresponding Microsoft code page to support correct operation across all vendor databases that Rational ClearQuest supports. Rational ClearQuest character exclusion lists provides tables of excluded characters for each data code page. Supported vendor database character sets lists supported vendor databases and the required vendor database character set configurations to support Rational ClearQuest data code pages.

Fonts and input method editors

If additional fonts and input method editors (IME) are installed on a system, then Rational ClearQuest applications that run on that system might be able to read, write, display, and process characters other than those in the local character set. This behavior is especially significant if the local character set is different from the data code page; you might want to install fonts and an IME compatible with the data code page. ASCII data can be written to any supported data code page without additional font or IME support.
